Medical Qigong
Paige VanderSloot, LMFT, CST, Doctor of Medical Qigong | Alpine, UT
Medical Qigong is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine that works with the body’s energetic system to restore balance and support natural healing.
I offer Medical Qigong treatments in Alpine, Utah, serving clients throughout Utah County, Salt Lake County, and surrounding areas, as well as distance Medical Qigong sessions for individuals across the United States.
Sessions include both in person and remote sessions. This way we can focus on regulating the body’s Qi through traditional Daoist healing methods.

Ancient Energy Medicine for Modern Healing
Medical Qigong is one of the oldest branches of Chinese medicine and has been practiced for thousands of years to restore harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.
In this system, illness and distress are understood as patterns of imbalance within the body’s energetic field (Qi). By regulating and restoring the flow of Qi, the body can return to a state of natural balance and vitality.
Medical Qigong treatments work directly with the energetic systems of the body—clearing stagnation, strengthening depleted areas, and supporting the body’s innate capacity for healing.
This work can be experienced both in person and at a distance, as Qi is fortunately not limited by physical space.

What Happens in a Session
Sessions begin with a brief conversation about your current state and intentions for the work.
During in-person sessions, you will lie comfortably on a treatment table while I assess and works with the energetic field surrounding the body. Treatments may involve hands-on or hands-off techniques designed to regulate the movement of Qi through the meridians and organ systems.
Depending on your pattern, sessions may include:
- External Qi emission to clear stagnation and restore energetic flow
- Regulation of organ systems through Taoist energetic techniques
- Sound, breath, or intention practices to support energetic release
- Guidance on simple Qigong practices that support healing between sessions
Clients commonly report sensations such as warmth, tingling, emotional release, deep relaxation, or a sense of energetic movement during treatment.

Distance Medical Qigong
In this case, Medical Qigong treatments can also be performed remotely.
Distance sessions work with the same energetic principles as in-person sessions and allow the practitioner to regulate and harmonize the client’s Qi field without physical contact.
These sessions take place over Zoom or as scheduled remote treatments while you rest quietly in your own space and I perform the Medical Qigong treatment.

What Medical Qigong Can Support
Medical Qigong treatments are often sought by individuals experiencing:
- Chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation
- Fatigue, burnout, or depletion
- Emotional stagnation or grief
- Digestive or hormonal imbalance
- Chronic tension or pain patterns
- Major life transitions
- A desire for deeper energetic or spiritual cultivation
Medical Qigong works alongside conventional medicine and other healing modalities and supports the body’s natural capacity to rebalance itself.

Training & Lineage
My work in Medical Qigong is grounded in both formal training and long-term personal cultivation.
I completed a four-year course of study in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Medical Qigong Therapy through Sacred Path Medicine – School of Daoist Medicine, where I received the title of Doctor of Medical Qigong.
This program follows a traditional progression of practitioner development that includes extensive clinical and cultivation training, including:
- Medical Qigong Practitioner
- Medical Qigong Therapist
- Master of Medical Qigong
- Doctor of Medical Qigong (approximately 2000 hours of study and clinical training)
The curriculum draws from teachings associated with the International Institute of Medical Qigong and traditional Chinese medical institutions such as Hai Dian Medical Qigong College and Xi Yuan Medical Qigong Hospital in Beijing, China.
Under the instruction of Zenovia Hwang, LAC, QMQ, DTCM (China), the program emphasized both clinical treatment methods and practitioner cultivation, including:
- External Qi Emission Therapy
- Medical Qigong diagnosis and treatment protocols
- Five Element and organ system energetics
- DaoYin therapeutic Qigong movement
- Taoist meditation and internal cultivation
In addition to my formal training, I have maintained a consistent personal meditation and Qigong practice for more than seven years. This ongoing practice provides an essential foundation for my work in Medical Qigong.
In this tradition, the practitioner’s own cultivation is part of the medicine.
